In the history of consumer internet companies, investors have typically taken a company seriously when they hit a million ‘users’. Recently Chris Dixon asked whether these numbers had changed. What is the milestone that companies need to hit? Business Insider did a great rundown of some of the great digital media companies and charted their early success. I’ve taken the numbers they presented and put it into a couple of charts.
The bottom line : companies like Facebook, twitter and other mega success stories took an average of 14 months to hit a million users and land a Series A investment.
